I haven't experienced any problems with swelling from taking the Vitamin D. Maybe it depends on the dosage?

I didn't mean that Fibro sufferers never have pain in their shoulders. Merely that a trigger point is not on the outer upper arm/shoulder. Upper back/shoulder pain -- as in on the back with shoulder blades is, of course, common. If you watch the commercial, though, you'll see she's grabbing her upper arm.

While we Fibro sufferers have varying symptoms and may have different areas of focus -- we all have at least 11 trigger points of the same 18 trigger points. I just found it odd that Pfizer didn't have her reach for one of the consistent trigger points.

I have recently started taking Vit D, the pain in my hands and arms has slowed down some. But, I am having intense ankle swelling, so bad it hurts to put on my shoes ! Has anyone else had this problem ? My primary told me if it was caused by the vit D, my body would regulate itself. Any info would help.

My pain stopped 3 days after Integrative Medicine started me on supplements including:

Inflam-X--rice-based,contains turmeric, ginger and rosemary, vitamins
2,000 mg/day L-Carnitine
100 mg CO Q 10
1,000 mg Fish Oil

I was already taking the CO Q10 and Fish Oil, when I remembered to.
The next week they called to report my labs showed a Vit D deficiency as well as a Carnitine deficiency. By then my fatigue was dissipating.

The Dr then ordered 2,000 IUs of Vit D for 12 weeks
with follow up labs. Now my strength is also returning.
I also sleep well for the first time in years, wake up without my muscles burning and generally feel the best I have in about 12 years. I'm alert, happy, remembering my words and don't suffer from the mental "fog".
Acupuncture and Biofeedback were ordered but denied by insurance, but I'm more able to do my yoga, which helps with flexibility, and walking for cardio.

I urge everyone to try Integrative or Complementary Medicine if at all possible.

[...] Neurontin was highly prescribed seven to 10 years ago, off label. Then it came out the company marketing it had been lying to doctors about the drug’s off label uses. However, some doctors still prescribe the medicine for FM. In 2007, Pfizer released Lyrica, which is structurally related to Neurontin and is FDA-approved for the treatment of Fibromyalgia.
My husband has Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and he went through all the riducule about not really "having" this illness. It has been 16 long years and I finally came to the conclusion that these drugs he was taking just made it worse. He was putting his body through more chaos than what he needed. I have to come to realize that just by changing his diet and giving him natural supplements, it has made a difference. I belive in the products so much I started taking it myself and started selling it. The pharmeceutical industry has had too much power over us...you take one pill and soon you'll be taking another to take care of problems the first pill gave you. NOT FAIR!!

Please don't be fooled by doctors who think this will help you, they know you'll be back in a couple months with new symptoms and they'll be happy to prescribe more drugs.

I also have shoulder pain. The vast majority of my pain is in my upper torso, neck shoulders, jaw, chest, upper arms and hands. Only when I'm in a major flare up do my legs and hips hurt. Fibro is like many others syndromes----your mileage may very, each person is different.
